Construction photos reveal progress on giant HS2 station by WilkinsonEyre

New images showcase the ongoing construction of the Old Oak Common station in west London, a key component of the HS2 high-speed rail network. Designed by WilkinsonEyre and WSP, the station will feature six platforms for HS2 and eight for conventional rail.

The station's expansive two-storey concrete structure is being built 20 metres below ground within an 850-metre station box. It is part of HS2's first phase, connecting London with the West Midlands, and is set to become one of the UK's largest transport interchanges and its largest subsurface station.

The design includes a spacious interior with a large vaulted roof, incorporating solar panels and openings for natural light and ventilation. All 14 platforms have been installed. Passenger train services are anticipated to commence between 2036 and 2039.
