Common Nexus University Project

Tetsuo Kobori Architects has been selected to design Common Nexus (ComoNe), a new university and community hub in Nagoya, Japan, envisioned to foster knowledge and innovation.

The project, slated for completion in 2025, aims to create a space for connections between the university and the wider community, as well as among people and across time.

The Tokai National Higher Education and Research System initiated the vision for Common Nexus as a "commons of knowledge and innovation."

Tetsuo Kobori Architects was chosen through a competitive proposal process held in 2021.

Key collaborators include Neoplus Sixten Inc. and Flavio Coddou for photography, Konishi Structural Engineers for structural engineering, and P.T. Morimura & Associates for electrical/mechanical equipment design.

Additional contributors are Landscape Plus for landscape design, Machida Sekkei for rainwater drainage, Akeno Facility Resilience for disaster prevention, and Sawada Lighting Design & Analysis for lighting design.
