Cattle armchair blends outback ruggedness with contemporary design

Gibson Karlo has designed the Cattle armchair for Design By Them, drawing inspiration from the industrial metalwork found in the Australian rural landscape.

The armchair's design reinterprets a specific joint technique used in agricultural metalwork, where tubular metal is flattened and screwed together at intersections. Karlo has refined this typically rugged joint, creating a softened and flowing transition between the round tube and flat surface, making the join a key design feature.

The frame is constructed from high-gloss powder-coated steel, available in Merlot and Camel finishes. This is complemented by plush upholstered cushioning, offered in a selection of fabrics from Kvadrat and Maharam, which drapes over the armrests and backrests.

The Cattle chair measures 890 x 940 x 740 millimeters.
