Burgundy wood and blue ceilings define Valencia café, bookshop, and wine bar
A 59-square-meter space in Valencia's El Botànic neighborhood, named Chiquita, combines café, bookshop, and wine bar functions within a unified interior.

Designed by SahuquillodeArriba for product designer Gloria Izquierdo, the interior features a full-length burgundy ash wood bookcase as its central element, extending into the bathroom. This contrasts with a continuous bench and white marble tables, complemented by a textured soft blue ceiling.
The design integrates coffee, books, and wine using color, material contrasts, and custom furniture. Integrated lighting adds a domestic feel to the space.
The renovation preserved the building's character by restoring original walls with a breathable coating that maintains their texture. A large communal table at the back supports cultural exchange activities like book clubs and meetings.
The compact layout and restrained palette of burgundy wood, white marble, and blue surfaces bring the diverse functions together seamlessly. Custom shelving incorporates books, objects, and warm lighting for an intimate atmosphere.
The wine bar and coffee counter are integrated into the continuous wooden shelving system. The bathroom continues the burgundy color scheme, featuring burgundy walls, a basin, and built-in elements.
The seating area combines built-in wooden benches, white tables, and stainless-steel stools. The storefront window connects the interior with the street, extending the café's ambiance to the neighborhood.
