BIG Designs Temporary 'Macondo Park' for Shakira's Madrid Residency

Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) has transformed Madrid's Iberdrola Music venue into 'Macondo Park,' a temporary city for Shakira's concert series, offering an alternative to traditional arenas.

The 185,000-square-meter site combines a 50,000-plus spectator stadium with pavilions, markets, food, art, fashion, cinema, and children’s areas, creating a comprehensive cultural landscape around the performances.

BIG aimed to choreograph the audience's entire experience, with colorful, color-coded paths guiding visitors to 12 temporary pavilions, eight of which highlight aspects of Latin American culture.
