Designers Rethink Home Materials and Forms

Three London-based designers are challenging conventional material use in home furnishings, exploring how innovation and unexpected forms can bring joy and personality to domestic spaces.

Bethan Laura Wood's "Extra Trimmings" collection uses nautical braided rope to create seating with tactile, architectural qualities. Ornamentation is integrated into the structure, rejecting uniformity for a playful, personal aesthetic.

Max Lamb's "Crockery" collection transforms stoneware, typically used for tableware, into dining chairs. This collaboration with 1882 Ltd involves 23 potters, highlighting collective production and the potential of ceramic beyond its traditional use.

Andu Masebo's Tubular Chair repurposes automotive materials. Stainless steel exhaust tubes form the chair's frame, while recycled chip rubber creates the seat, celebrating industrial origins and adapted manufacturing limitations.
