Az-Boroun Villa by CROSSARCHITECTURE

CROSSARCHITECTURE designed the Az-Boroun Villa in Karaj, Iran, completed in 2024. The project emphasizes integrating the landscape into the spatial design.

The villa, meaning "from outside" in Persian, creates a deep threshold between the house and garden. It features three overlapping volumes forming a frame, with two voids allowing landscape, light, air, and movement to penetrate the structure.

Located on two adjacent plots in Zafaranieh, the villa was commissioned as a weekend retreat. The site is bordered by gardens to the north and south, making landscape continuity a key aspect of the design brief.

Instead of positioning the house as a standalone object, the design utilizes the site's depth to incorporate the garden into the villa's spatial organization. The total area of the project is 716 m².
