Apple Opens First Live Music Venue in London

Tech company Apple has unveiled the Apple Music Hall, a 600-seat live music venue located within its offices at London's Battersea Power Station. This marks Apple's first permanent performance space.

The venue, designed by Apple's in-house team, draws inspiration from the industrial aesthetic of the Giles Gilbert Scott-designed power station, featuring exposed steel joists and brick walls. Illuminated arches and art deco-style bronze balconies add to its design.

Apple states the flexible space offers artists significant creative control, with an 11.5-meter stage that can be configured for seated, standing, or mixed audiences. It is equipped with a 48-speaker spatial sound system and 16 cameras for capturing performances.

Artists can reportedly leave a show with a Spatial Audio recording, a broadcast-ready mix, and multicamera video, all captured from a single performance.

Adjacent to the main venue is a full production facility with professional recording and mix studios. Apple Music Radio has also relocated its broadcast operations to the building.

Apple Music Hall was constructed alongside Apple's European headquarters, designed by Foster + Partners. The historic Battersea Power Station, derelict for 40 years, was refurbished in 2022 and now includes residences, retail, and an Apple Store.
