Apple Unveils First Foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo

Apple has entered the foldable phone market with the release of its first-ever folding smartphone, the iPhone Duo. This device marks a significant shift in iPhone design since its initial touchscreen release in 2007.

The iPhone Duo features a central hinge and an external screen, allowing it to be used when folded. When closed, it is comparable in size to a passport, measuring 5.4 inches long with an aspect ratio similar to the iPhone 18 Pro. Unfolded, the device boasts the largest iPhone display ever at 7.6 inches.

Constructed with a titanium enclosure and "ceramic shields," the iPhone Duo's inner screen is protected by scratch-resistant glass and can be used while the phone is partially open. The release follows similar foldable devices from competitors like Samsung's Galaxy Fold (2019) and Honor's ultra-thin folding phone from last year. Apple also announced updates to its iPhone 18 and Apple Watch lines, along with improvements to its cooling systems using recycled materials.
