Amman Design Week Returns with "Accumulations" Theme

Amman Design Week is back from October 2-17, 2026, featuring over 220 designers. The event explores how materials, memories, and practices accumulate over time and shape places.

The fourth edition spans multiple locations in Jordan, including Aqaba. Curated by Faysal Tabbarah, it connects daily practices, material environments, and cultural memories, with projects shown alongside "traces."

Under new co-directors Sarah Hejazin and Bisher Tabbaa, the event expands into public space, education, and programming, utilizing existing sites.

The main exhibition is in the Hangar in Ras El Ain, a former industrial building, chosen for its history of uses. The surrounding park extends the program.

Projects within the Hangar explore architecture and public space. Examples include "Infusing Green Infrastructure in Amman" and "Common Ground," focusing on community engagement and interaction.

Other projects examine material change. Laith Matarweh Studio's "Al-Mastaba" creates a future ruin, while "Binayah" explores furniture as an architectural element.

Permanent urban interventions in Ras El Ain Park include gathering spaces, a basketball court inspired by local plants, and structures referencing historical monuments.

The program includes talks and workshops. Other locations like Darat Abu Adnan and Iraq Al Amir offer engagement with Jordanian architecture and history.
