America's Response Monument

A statue in New York honors U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers for their actions in Afghanistan post-9/11.

The monument memorializes the Green Berets and other Special Forces who fought the Taliban in the early days after the September 11th attacks.

During their operations, these soldiers rode into combat on horseback alongside their Afghan allies.

The statue, created by artist Douwe Blumberg, is 1.5 times life size and depicts a combat-ready soldier on horseback.

A piece of steel from the World Trade Center is integrated into the base of the statue.

The monument is located in Liberty Park, elevated above street level south of the September 11th Memorial and Museum.
