Web3-Pi UPS Offers Alternative Power Solution for Raspberry Pi

A new uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for the Raspberry Pi, the Web3 Pi UPS, has been developed to address situations where traditional HAT-style UPS units are not ideal.

Unlike typical HATs with onboard batteries, this device integrates into the USB power chain. It accepts power from USB-C PD, a barrel jack, or a hot-swappable Sony camera battery, providing a stable 5V at 5A for the Pi.

The UPS can communicate with the Raspberry Pi via USB, sending telemetry data and initiating a safe shutdown if its power reserves are low. Internally, it features a CH32 RISC-V microcontroller for power management and an RP2040 for control and an OLED user interface.

While an LTE add-on for remote monitoring is mentioned, it appears not to be fully implemented in the current GitHub repository. This alternative UPS design could be useful in various applications beyond its initial use case for Ethereum nodes.
