IEEE Launches STEM Book Series for Tweens

IEEE TryEngineering has released a new STEM book series, "Tomorrow’s Technology With TryEngineering, Powered by IEEE," aimed at children aged 8 to 12. The series, published through Lerner Publishing Group, aims to make complex technological concepts accessible and engaging for young learners.

The series features age-appropriate explanations, real-world examples, and design challenges to foster curiosity and critical thinking. It is based on existing ebooks and videos available on tryengineering.org.

TryEngineering collaborated with several IEEE groups, including the Communications, Computer, and Oceanic Engineering societies, and the Transportation Electrification Council, for this initiative.

The books are designed for use in classrooms, libraries, or at home, helping children connect STEM concepts to everyday technologies like computers and smartphones.

The collection includes titles on Artificial Intelligence, Communication Technology, Electric Vehicles, Ocean Engineering, Semiconductors, and Signal Power, each exploring specific technological areas and their impact.

For instance, the Artificial Intelligence book discusses AI systems, ethical concerns like bias and deepfakes, and its evolution. The Electric Vehicles book covers the operation of various electric transport modes and battery technology.

Ocean Engineering focuses on marine ecosystems and how engineers study and protect them, while Semiconductors delves into the technology behind modern electronics and microchips.

The Signal Power book explains how engineers use signal processing in various applications, from telecommunications to medical devices. The series encourages children to think like engineers and innovators by linking STEM to practical applications.
