Jet: A 3D Rasterizer for Embedded Devices

Modern microcontrollers are increasingly powerful, enabling advanced graphical applications. Jet, a new 3D rasterizer from CubeCoders, is designed for these chips, offering a compact and efficient solution for embedded graphics.

Jet is a dependency-free, C++17 rasterizer built for memory-limited platforms like the ESP32 and STM32. It operates entirely in software using only integer arithmetic and 16-bit RGB565 color, making it suitable for SPI-interfaced displays.

On an ESP32-S3, Jet can render approximately 650 triangles per second at 60 FPS on a 480x320 display, or 1300 triangles at 30 FPS. This performance is comparable to older gaming consoles like the Sega 32X and Sega Saturn.

While not capable of rendering demanding modern games, Jet is well-suited for retro 3D graphics in projects using microcontrollers like the ESP32.
